dB Stats is a proprietary traffic logging...

...and analysis tool for a PHP/ MySQL driven web site. It does not read server logs, but gathers it's own data and stores it in a MySQL database. The data is then parsed and reported in real time in the administration tool. Reports are available by year, month and even down to the day for page views, referrers, IP addresses, crawlers and browsers. Aggregate page view and visitor number reports show traffic by hour of the day, day of the week and month of the year.

Monthly and yearly page view reports can be tracked back to their referring pages, browsers and IP addresses. Monthly and yearly IP reports can have their page viewing history and click thru pattern analyzed to investigate potential troubler makers, or see what bots and crawlers are actually crawling.

With the help of some already existing online tools, dB Stats can help the user track IP addresses by doing traceroutes and querying reverse DNS lookups to get geolocations and owners of specific IP addresses which comes in handy if you find an IP that is giving you problems. Using that information you can use a tool within dB Stats to ban those trouble-making IP's from accessing your web site.

With dB Stats version 4, much of the charting is done by dynamic, animated Flash bar and pie charting applications that have been generously donated to the project by Info Soft Global in their support of the open source community.

Installation consists of filling out your database configuation options, uploading the files, log in to the administration and installing the database tables. After that, simply add an include statement, including the proper file in each page you want logged (or into a global include) and you are logging your traffic. Easy as that.

With very high traffic sites, the database can grow pretty large, so it may not be suitable for all people, but the database has been optomized to make it as efficient as possible.
